Care instructions:

Soil: 20% max of high grade potting soil mixed with high mineral mix. We sell complete soil mineral mix here on our website. It contains things like crushed coral, crushed limestone pea gravel, crushed Granite pea gravel, crushed oyster shell, Turface MVP, lava rock, zeolite, maifantium, akadama, organic soil, HP Pro-mix.
Current tested winner - preferred soil mixture:
- 5 parts pro-mix HP
- 2 parts coarse minerals (listed above) or coarse sand
- 1 parts organic potting soil
- use sand or minerals as a rock top layer

Lighting: partial shade. They grow up under bushes and are never in full sun. If indoors, a great LED light can be bought from Spider Farmer (great prices on Amazon and even complete tent systems that beat the price of building one). Can also be next to a window. If you have extremely bright grow lights, a shade cloth can also be used to lower the light. If they elongate (etiolation) , you need more light, if they turn darker with reddish purple hue, you need less light.

Water: only water when soil substrate is 100% Dry. Mineral water is best. Avoid chlorinated water.
- Bottom watering: You can bottom water using mesh bottom trays, or single 3” pots or 4” pots. Sometimes it’s a great idea to use a combination of both and dunk the mesh bottom tray into water with an inexpensive concrete mixing tub from Home Depot for $7-8 or you can buy a multipack of tubs from Amazon
- Top watering: top watering can be done with a sprayer or squeeze bottle by wetting the growing medium around the plant.

Feeding: Amazon has great cacti fertilizer. It’s called Shultz Cacti fertilizer.
It can be used every time you water.
